About

I am a psychiatrist with particular expertise in anxiety, depression, autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, intellectual disability, and trauma. My focus is on providing tailored care to support you, or your child, on a journey to improved mental wellbeing. I have experience working in mental health services in Darwin, Brisbane and Melbourne.

I take a holistic approach to mental health. Our sessions may explore not just thoughts and emotions, but also how stress, relationships, daily habits, sleep and other lifestyle factors can affect wellbeing. Where medication may be helpful, I provide expert advice so you can make the decision that’s right for you (or your child). I am able to offer in-person consultation at Coburg Specialist Centre, or telehealth consultation.

For Referrers

General Assessment+

There are a few things you can do to help speed up your patient's journey.

I appreciate detailed referrals that particularly address the following:

  • Why is the patient seeking a psychiatrist review?
  • What is the past psychiatric history?
  • Substance use history?
  • Current medications?
  • What has been tried thus far to address the mental health difficulties?
  • Kindly attach any relevant previous reports eg. From psychologist, previous psychiatrist, hospital admission.

ADHD Assessments+

I provide ADHD assessments and ongoing follow up. Once the individual is stable, my preference is that their GP provides ongoing prescriptions and monitoring of blood pressure and heart rate.

I appreciate detailed referrals that particularly address the following:

  • Blood pressure, heart rate, and cardiovascular examination
  • If you will continue prescribing if the individual is provided a medication regimen
  • Past psychiatric history
  • History of substance misuse.

Autism Assessments+

I appreciate detailed referrals that particularly address the following:

  • Why is the patient seeking an autism assessment?
  • What is the past psychiatric history?
  • Substance use history?
  • Current medications?
  • What has been tried thus far to address the mental health difficulties?
  • Kindly attach any relevant previous reports eg. From psychologist, previous psychiatrist, hospital admission.

Fees

I believe in transparency with pricing, so that you can make an informed decision before seeing me.

After you pay for your consultation, you may be entitled to a Medicare rebate. Medicare rebate refers to the amount of money that Medicare pays back to you after your appointment.

If you have reached the Medicare Safety Net, Medicare will cover more of the cost, so your rebate may be higher than the amounts listed.

FAQ

Do you see WorkCover patients?+

Yes, though availability is limited. Kindly contact the clinic. This will allow me to see if I am able to help.

Do you see DVA (Department of Veterans' Affairs) patients?+

Yes, though availability is limited. Kindly contact the clinic. This will allow me to see if I am able to help.

Do you bulk bill?+

I am not able to offer routine bulk billing.

How do I book an appointment?+

Please make contact with the clinic before sending a referral. Outline the issue you would like support with, as this will allow me to assess if I am available and suited to supporting you. If I am able to see you, I will ask you to obtain a referral from your GP and send it to my clinic. My team will then reach out to you with an appointment.

What should I bring to my first appointment?+

Please bring your medicare card, and either your medications in boxes or webster pack, or a current list of your medications. Any reports from mental health professionals that you have seen previously will also be helpful.

You may like to bring any items that help to soothe and relax you during the session, such as a fidget toy, soft toy, or other favourite item.

Why was my referral declined?+

I make decisions about who I will see based on the information provided in the referral and your contact with me. If there is insufficient information, or your difficulties fall outside my area of expertise, I may decline the referral. I am not able to support individuals who are currently receiving compulsory psychiatric care through a public mental health service, individuals with substance use issues where this is the primary difficulty, individuals outside of the age range 6-65, or individuals with a high degree of risk (to self or others).
